The GSR Coilrepair Set M2 is the compact all-in-one solution for repairing damaged M2 internal threads. With a single set and in just a few steps, worn or stripped threads are permanently restored to their original nominal dimension – without replacing the component and without enlarging the thread. The system is particularly well-suited for materials with low shear strength such as aluminium or magnesium alloys, where damaged threads are a common occurrence. All necessary system tools are included in the set.

The thread inserts consist of austenitic stainless steel wire with a diamond-shaped cross-section (rhombus, 60°), cold-formed into a spring coil. This cross-section creates a precise, double-sided usable thread flank with high surface quality. The spring design distributes applied forces evenly across all thread turns – the result is a wear-resistant connection with consistently low thread friction torque, even under frequent repeated assembly cycles.

For thread repair you will need a core hole drill, STI tap, installation tool, tang break-off tool as well as a drilling machine or adjustable tap wrench and a hammer (optional: countersink).

  1. Drill out the damaged thread
  2. Countersink the core hole edge
  3. Drill new core hole for insert thread
