Task of a die holder

In a die holder, round dies are held according to DIN and can then be turned for thread cutting.

Structure of the die holder

Die holders consist of a die-cast zinc body and two screwed-on steel handles. Fastening screws are mounted in the base body. Usually there are 5 slotted screws with a 90 degree tip, for smaller diameters there are 3 fixing screws.

Application of the die holder

First of all, select a holding tool suitable for the die. Two sizes are decisive: the diameter of the cutter and the thickness of the cutter (for example, 25 x 9 mm). Then open the screws until the cutter fits in. It should be inserted in such a way that the upper screw can be screwed into the upper slot (pre-slotted version). Then all 5 screws are tightened with a screwdriver. There is no top or bottom with a die. Normally, both sides have a gate.

The GSR die holders of the Silver type are break-proof due to the special geometry and therefore of particularly high quality.

The geometry of the GSR Silver die holders has been completely revised. Not only is the body much more resilient than that of its predecessor, the powder coating is also environmentally friendly. It is applied to the high-quality zinc die-cast / Zamak5 in a state-of-the-art coating process in a closed-loop system. The new die holder is specially designed to hold closed and slotted dies. In particular, round cutting irons. 
The GSR Silver die holders are standardized and manufactured according to DIN 225. The tool holders have four locking screws to lock the cutting irons. The larger Silver die holders even have five locking screws to secure the die.

These die holders are not only suitable for manual threading but also for use on the lathe. Especially because they have 120% higher torque compared to conventional holding tools.

In addition, the holder fits well in the hand and the practical storage box protects against dirt. The die holders made of zinc die casting / Zamak5 are available in different sizes for metric and inch threads in our store. The matching GSR Silver dies can be selected directly.
