Task of a winch iron

In a tap wrench you can clamp and operate (turn, turn) hand tools with a square shank such as reamers, screw extractors and taps (thread cutters).  Sometimes it is therefore also called a turning iron. The correct DIN term is: adjustable tap wrench.

Construction of the tap wrench

Winch bars consist of a die-cast zinc body, a fixed and a rotating handle, and hardened jaws. One jaw is fixed, the other jaw is adjustable by the handle. Due to the design of the winch iron, the long holding handles create the desired leverage effect.

Use of the winch iron

First, you choose a suitable winch iron. There are many different sizes. One should always choose the optimal solution and not work on the lower or upper clamping range. By turning the handle, one opens the jaw and then inserts the square. The square is centered and locked by closing the jaw. Care should be taken to tighten the jaw. Our tip: there is a hole in the handle of the adjustable tap wrench. There you can helpfully insert a toggle and thus increase the torque when tightening.

The GSR winch bars of the SILVER type are very break-proof due to their special geometry and are therefore of particularly high quality.

GSR Silver Adjustable tap wrench for hand taps

The brand new GSR Silver Adjustable Tap Wrenches for hand taps have been completely redesigned. This results in a higher load capacity of the tool body. The hardened adjustable jaw can be adjusted via a guide groove milled into the chuck between the jaw and the handle. This allows the jaw to be precisely adjusted and the tap to be clamped perfectly. The body is made of high-quality zinc die-cast (Zamak5) and finished with an environmentally friendly powder coating applied using a modern circulation coating process. These new GSR Silver holding tools are manufactured according to DIN1814. The adjustable tap holder is available in sizes No. 0 - No.6 and for thread sizes M8 -M42 at our store.
The tap holder is supplied in a sturdy cardboard box. This provides the tool a permanent home against contamination.

The tap wrench is neatly finished and can be adjusted nice and quickly by means of a double threaded rod (counter-rotating right and left-hand threads). In addition, the adjustable tap wrench holds hand taps, taps, and single-cut taps neatly in place without wobbling. In addition, the holding tool can be used to clamp any tool with a square shank. It is perfectly designed for manual cutting of all types of threads.
